Duke Realty Corp. made its first health care investment in the Houston area by acquiring three medical office buildings on the Christus St. Catherine campus in Katy.
Indianapolis-based Duke Realty paid an undisclosed amount for the properties.
The three buildings, known as Plaza I, II and III, have a total 168,850 square feet of space. They are located at 701 S. Fry Road, just south of Interstate 10.
The buildings are 95 percent leased to health care providers, such as MD Anderson Cancer Center’s Regional Care Center and an ambulatory surgery center with four operating rooms.
Duke Realty (NYSE: DRE) owns and operates approximately 143 million square feet of industrial, office and health care assets in 18 major U.S. cities. The portfolio only has 2.9 million square feet of health care assets, with 1.06 million square feet of that located in Texas. Duke wants to increase its health care investments, according to a company statement.
