Urban Wine & Liquor, a new 2,615-square-foot retail concept from Austin-based wine expert and manager Buckley Wineholt, is coming to the base of downtown luxury condominium high-rise The Austonian .
The store is projected to open later this year.
Designed by Bercy Chen Studios, the store will offer wine, spirits, beers, barware, imported cigars and cigarettes, and artisanal foods including locally produced items.
The store will include a tasting station.
“Our design emphasizes the underlying characteristics and the singularity of products in the store,” said Bercy Chen designer Fred Hubnik. “The way light is refracted through a bottle of liquor or the amber glow from a bottle can be very interesting.”
The store plans to host events and tastings with winery principals, artisanal gift baskets, special orders and mixed cases tailored to client needs, and delivery service to The Austonian and other residences and businesses, said a spokeswoman for the new store.
Eric DeJernett, Senior Vice President, and Jami Calabrese, Associate, of CB Richard Ellis represented The Austonian in the transaction for the space. Lauren Brunner of The Retail Strategy Real Estate Group represented Urban Wine & Liquor.
