Lucy’s Fried Chicken is coming to South Congress Ave.
Chef James Holmes has broken ground on the restaurant and is building a new 1,800 square foot venue at the old Nueva Onda spot. The new space, designed by architectMichael Shu, should be open by early next year.
The new restaurant should employ around 15 people at the start, a spokeswoman said. Holme’s is known for his menu at Olivia restaurant, located on South Lamar.
Bon Appétit magazine named Olivia among the Top Ten Best New Restaurant America in 2009. Holmes also received an invitation to cook at the James Beard House in 2010.
Named after his daughter, Lucy, Holmes’ new fried chicken restaurant will include Texas comfort food, and raw and grilled Gulf oysters.
