2300 South Lamar, a shopping center south of Oltorf Street in South Austin, has received a facelift.
The remodeling is part of an effort to reposition the shopping center as a more trendy specialty shop destination.
Symcox Development was in charge of renovating the full exterior of the 14,570 square foot building. Features of the facelift include a natural color scheme, coordinated with deep-shaded awnings.
“We are able to take our time to ensure that we add the right concept to the tenant mix,” said Michele Gary, vice president with the Commercial Retail Division of The Weitzman Group.
The group recently signed Flywheel Fitness, an indoor rowing and spin studio, who took 1,240 square feet, and Dirty Dog Grooming and Self Serve Dog Wash took 1,240 square feet. The new tenants will join Urban Moto, Batteries Plus, Moonlight Bakery, T-Mobile and others.
“The renovation has taken a center designed for value and utility before the explosive regeneration of South Austin and repositioned it to take advantage of the increased vibrancy of the South Lamar market,” Gary said.
More than 115,000 residents and a daytime population of approximately 196,000 live within a three-mile radius, according to the Weitzman Group.
The architect for the renovation is Michael Hsu Architects.
