San Marcos-based K-W Construction Inc. is being awarded a $7.6 million task order for phase two of a facilities recapitalization project at Naval Air Station, Corpus Christi.
The task order, awarded under a previously awarded construction contract that anticipates multiple jobs, involves repairs and modernization to a World War II-era hangar, and interior space modifications to two smaller buildings. The project includes replacing interior walls, ceilings and flooring; and structural, mechanical, plumbing and electrical system repairs. The task order also contains an option, which, if exercised, would increase its value to nearly 7.8 million.
The work is expected to be completed by November 2013.
Two proposals were received, and Naval Facilities Engineering Command, Southeast in Jacksonville, Fla., is the contracting activity.
