Capital One Financial Corp.
has signed a lease in the historic Littlefield Building on Sixth Street and Congress Avenue for a downtown bank and office.
Capital One will take 10,340 square feet of retail space and 6,727 square feet of office space in the 101-year-old building named for Maj. George Littlefield. Financial terms of the deal weren’t revealed.
Dean Vandergriff and Rodger Anderson of United Commercial Realty represented Capital One. The Littlefield Building’s landlord, Heitman LLC
, was represented by Troy Holmeat CB Richard Ellis Inc.
Vandergriff said the bank will be well-served by increased visibility at the busy intersection, which he called a “flagship location.”
“They needed a downtown presence,” he said. “All the commercial lenders have a presence there. The developers are downtown and for the most part, all the title folks, the attorneys, now a lot of the tech people; they all have a presence downtown.”
The immediate area around the new bank has seen a good bit of retail and office activity recently, including a new 9,000-square-foot Brooks Brothers
in the historic Scarborough Building on a different corner of Sixth Street and Congress Avenue.
