LifeWorks has decided not to rezone its East Austin property until it finds a buyer.
The nonprofit, which helps youth and their families transition out of poverty, had requested that the city rezone its 7,700-square-foot office building at 2001 Chicon St. for commercial use. LifeWorks later asked for the item to be removed from the city council agenda until the building has a firm buyer. The building, which was originally a home, has single-family zoning. Tim Mooney, of Live Oak-Gottesman LLC, is marketing the property for $990,000.
LifeWorks would like to use the sale of the building to help finance its new 31,000-square-foot headquarters that is under construction in East Austin. The building is slated to be finished by the end of the year. For more on the new headquarters, click here.
