Mac Haik has added yet another piece of Interstate 10 real estate to his portfolio.

Two weeks ago he bought nearly 4 acres at 11750 Katy Freeway where a Saturn dealership used to operate.

It might seem natural for Haik, who owns multiple auto dealerships, to sell some sort of vehicles at the site. But he said he hasn’t decided yet what he will do with the tract.

The last time he bought I-10 acreage, it was the former site of Ernie Guzman Pontiac-GMC at 12111 Katy Freeway. That 7.6-acre site ultimately became a used car dealership.

Considering Haik’s deep pockets and love of I-10 real estate, the chairman and CEO of Mac Haik Enterprises didn’t really need to know what the property will be used for before he purchased it. He simply knew that he wanted it.

The newly acquired site is west of Haik’s 21-acre Energy Plaza, which includes the 14-story Energy Tower I “Technip” building, 17-story Energy Tower II and 14-story Embassy Suites.

The rectangular Saturn tract with limited freeway frontage is immediately adjacent to land Haik had earmarked for the proposed Energy Tower III, though now he says it could be developed as a hotel, condominium complex or medical building.
