Candlewood Suites recently opened three extended-stay hotels in the Houston area and plans to open two more by July as part of a statewide expansion.
A total of 13 new Candlewood Suites properties will open in Texas by this summer, bringing the brand’s Texas portfolio to 50 hotels.
Candlewood Suites is part of InterContinental Hotels Group PLC, one of the worlds largest hotel group’s with brands such as InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, Crowne Plaza Hotels & Resorts and Holiday Inn Hotels & Resorts.
The three new local hotels that opened in February are located at 291 Kingwood Medical Dr. in Kingwood, 1300 East Blvd. in Deer Park and 2350 Gulf Freeway South in League City. Properties are also being developed at 9015 Broadway in Pearland and at 1020 Maxey Road in Houston.
New Candlewood Suites are also coming to San Antonio, Abilene, Fort Stockton, Fort Worth and Temple.
“We are pleased to grow with our owners to build the right hotels in the right market,” said Jim Anhut, InterContinental’s chief development officer for the Americas, in a prepared statement. “The demand for affordable extended-stay options is apparent with the active business and tourism industries in Texas.”
