The new Flower Mound distribution, sales and operations center for Mohawk Industries Inc. (NYSE: MHK) is now open and operational for business.
The company will keep the same number of employees in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, officials said. There are currently about 85 employees.
The Calhoun-Ga.-based flooring supplier has had a distribution center presence in North Texas for years, but needed a better designed facility to serve customers.
In additional to housing the national distribution center, the 258,372-square-foot, leased Flower Mound center at Lakeside Trade Center Building Four will house Mohawk's south central regional operations offices and regional sales offices.
"Our Flower Mound facility will not only house all of these operations, but it will also include a new, state-of-the-art showroom, which will better serve our customers in the greater Dallas-Fort Worth area," said John Ames, vice president of logistics for Mohawk, in a written statement. "This location is convenient for our growing customer base and will provide easy access to all parts of the metropolitan area."
Hillwood Development is Mohawk's landlord.
Mohawk officials credit Hillwood and The Town of Flower Mound as being imperative to the site of the center.
The Mohawk distribution center won the Dallas Business Journal's Best Real Estate Deal: Creative Deal of the Year in February.
