Skanska USA has been awarded a $34 million contract to build the Arts and Humanities Building at Texas A&M University in College Station.
Skanska’s San Antonio and Houston offices will collaborate on the project. The new building will serve as the home for the Department of English and the Department of Performance Studies. The new building will also house the Institute for Digital Humanities, Media and Culture.
In addition to the English and Performance Studies departments, the 107,000-square-foot building will house faculty offices, classrooms, computer-based teaching classrooms, theater performance studios, music practice and rehearsal rooms, recording studios and music teaching labs. The building should be completed by the summer of 2012.
“Our goal is to construct a building that will facilitate creative work among all scholars and students of music, theater, performance, literature and related fields,” says Skanska Executive Vice President Brian Freeman.
