KBR Inc. has been awarded a construction contract from Erkiletian and Jefferson Apartment Group valued at $33 million.
The Houston-based engineering company will be constructing The Asher, a planned mixed-use development in Alexandria, Va., that will include two buildings — one with six stories and the other with three stories — which will be connected by a two-level, below-grade parking garage.
The residential component will include 206 apartment units, a business center, fitness center, residents’ club and an entertainment room.
KBR’s (NYSE: KBR) building group based in Vienna, Va. will lead the project, which is registered with the U.S. Green Building Council for LEED® Silver certification.
Washington, D.C.-based Erkiletian and Jefferson Apartment Group are development partners for The Asher, which is expected to be completed in June 2012.
