Family Eldercare, a nonprofit serving older adults, those with disabilities and their caregivers, has a new executive director and will be moving into a new home.
Angela Atwood was named the new executive director of Family Eldercare. She has served as the agency’s interim leader since Karen Langley retired last year.
Meanwhile, the nonprofit purchased a 23,000-square-foot building at 1700 Rutherford Lane, east of U.S. 183 and north of U.S. 290, from the American Heart Association. Family Eldercare will relocate about 50 employees to the building shortly.
Conley Covert, an associate with SkylesBayne Co., handled the sale for Family Eldercare.
“They really liked the location, and were comfortable with the building because it had worked well for AHA,” Covert said.
Family Eldercare is housed at 2210 Hancock Drive. It plans to bring the 6,500-square-foot building to market, for either lease or sale, after the holidays, Covert said.
The new building will enable Family Eldercare to increase its capacity to meet Austin’s needs.
“Rapid growth in the older adult population is increasing the need for Family Eldercare’s services,” said Barbara Lipscomb, Barnes Lipscomb & Stewart, and President-Elect of the 2011 Board of Directors, in a release. “Our programs combine innovative approaches delivered by highly-qualified and experienced staff. With our executive team in place, we look forward to continuing to serve the dramatically increasing population of older adults in Travis and Williamson Counties.”
