Contractors for the City of San Antonio broke ground Monday on a 40,000-square-foot fire, police and emergency dispatch center at Brooks City-Base.
Once completed in December 2011, the 911/emergency dispatch center will replace the current dispatch center located at San Antonio Police Department headquarters in Downtown San Antonio. It will house 120 employees.
City Council awarded the construction contract to a joint venture made up of San Antonio-based Guido Brothers Construction Co. and Tucson, Ariz-based Sundt Construction Inc. Hellmuth, Obata & Kassabaum is the project’s design consultant. The total cost of the project is $28 million.
Sundt is ranked as the 54th largest construction company in the United States by trade publication ENR. The company has offices throughout the Southwestern United States, including one in San Antonio.
