The City of Roanoke is breaking ground Friday on Hawaiian Falls Roanoke — Denton County’s first public-private water park.
The park is expected to produce annual revenue of $10 million.
Sacramento-based water park operator Hawaiian Falls will lease the park from the City of Roanoke.
The 10-acre park, which will feature the world’s largest aqua play structure, 20 slides, a family raft ride and other water attractions, will open in May 2011.
The project is planned at 201 Fairway Drive at W. Byron Nelson Boulevard in Roanoke.
During water park season, which runs from May to early September, Hawaiian Falls Roanoke will employ 175 people.
Job fairs will be held in the spring to hire employees for the 2011 summer season.
