Maryland-based textbook retailer BookHolders is opening a 10,592-square-foot store in the Dobie Mall at the University of Texas.
The store at 2021 Guadalupe St. will be the company's first in Texas and seventh nationwide. BookHolders, founded in 1999, sells and rents college textbooks. The Austin store is expected to open later this month.
Travis Watkins of The Weitzman Group handled negotiations as exclusive leasing agent for Dobie Mall. Neal Kieschnick with UCR and Brad Buslik with H&R Retail Inc. represented the bookstore.
BookHolders officials said they chose the Dobie Mall space because of its proximity to the UT student population. The center includes a 500-seat food court and sits below the 27-story, 900-resident Dobie private dormitory.
BookHolders could not say how many people will work in the store, but the company is accepting applications. Those interested in applying can email utjobs@bookholders.com.
