San Antonio-based Texas MedClinic is opening a second Austin clinic next month.
The specialty urgent care and occupational medicine provider will open the facility at 12319 N. Mopac Expressway on Dec. 1. The company's first capital city clinic is in the Southpark Meadows Shopping Center at 9900 S. I-35. It opened in 2008.
The new 8,000 square-foot, walk-in clinic will employ 17 people. It will operate every day from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. The facility treats problems including strains, sprains, lacerations, contusions, insect bites, animal bites, burns, scrapes, eye injuries, joint dislocations, earaches, asthma, influenza, abdominal pain, sore throats and other ailments.
The facility will accept Aetna, Blue Cross, Cigna, Humana, Pacificare, Texas True Choice and United Healthcare, among others.
Board-certified family practitioner Dr. Kristen Kocurek will serve as medical director for both Austin facilities. She earned her doctorate from the University of Texas Medical School in Houston, and served both her internship and residency at the Alaska Family Practice Residency Program in Anchorage, Alaska.
Texas MedClinic was established in 1982 as a group medical practice that specialized in urgent care and occupational medicine. The company operates 10 locations in San Antonio, New Braunfels and Austin and employs 75 physicians and 450 employees.
