The Crescent Office Towers, a 1.1-million-square-foot three-building complex in Uptown Dallas, has received Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design silver rating from the U.S. Green Building Council, Crescent Real Estate Holdings LLC announced Monday.

The certification under the council's Existing Buildings rating system gives Fort Worth-based Crescent Real Estate Holdings more than 4 million square feet of LEED-certified Class A office space in Texas.

In September, the council awarded Crescent's first LEED certification to Trammell Crow Center in the Arts District of Dallas. That building also earned the silver designation. Fulbright Tower and 1 Houston Center in downtown Houston have received LEED gold ratings.

Most of Crescent's 35 office buildings across the United States are on course for LEED certification by the end of 2011, the company reports.

As part of achieving LEED certification, Crescent replaced The Crescent's toilets with low-flow models, resulting in a 10 percent reduction in water use and saving nearly 3 million gallons of water each year.

“Our customers and partners want LEED-certified buildings,” John Zogg, managing director of leasing for Crescent's Dallas portfolio, said in a statement. “To them it means that we care about their experience, the communities that surround us, and ultimately the cost savings that we are able to achieve and pass on to them. It's good for everyone.”
