The W Austin Hotel & Residencies will host a hiring event Thursday to prepare for its December grand opening.
The $300-million Stratus Properties Inc. (Nasdaq: STRS) and Canyon-Johnson Urban Fund II LP joint venture will be the latest addition to downtown's growing 2nd Street District. The 37-story project will include 251 hotel rooms, 159 condos, 53,000 square feet of office, retail and restaurant space and a new theater to host KLRU’s Austin City Limits.
The Sept. 30 "casting call" will be held at a recruiting center at 117 Lavaca St. beginning at 8 a.m. The property needs workers in accounting, beverage and food, engineering, security, stewarding, housekeeping, spa, guest services and the front desk, according to a press release. One position, called the "Insider" will act as the face of the W Austin, familiar with new and returning guests, as well as the city.
The recruiting center will also be open Oct. 1 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Oct. 2 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. After Saturday, interested applicants can call 512-542-3680 for an appointment. Applications are also available online.
