Lewisville Independent School District has selected Dallas-based Charter Builders as construction manager for $40 million in additions and renovations to Lewisville High School.
Construction will occur in two phases, beginning in October 2010. The first phase will add 131,000 square feet to the campus, including a competition gym, practice gyms, kitchen, cafeteria, band hall and fine arts classrooms. The second phase consists of 90,000 square feet of additions, including administration offices, classrooms and a new library, as well as 69,000 square feet of renovations to existing classrooms.
Construction is scheduled to complete by August 2012.
Charter Builders is a subsidiary of Balfour Beatty Construction and specializes in the construction of educational facilities. The upgrades to the existing high school — which was founded in 1897 — will be Charter's sixth project with Lewisville ISD since 2008.
