Construction will begin Saturday in Fairview on a Boy Scout Service Center for the Circle 10 Council.
The 13,000-square-foot building, called the Bobby Lyle & Billy Gamble Scout Service Center, will serve as the Boy Scouts of America’s Collin County Headquarters. The site is along the northbound frontage road of U.S. 75, north of Stacy Road at Fairview Village Drive.
The two-story building will include meeting rooms, office space and a retail outlet for Boy Scout supplies. It is scheduled to open in December as part of the Boy Scouts of America’s 100th anniversary.
The center will serve about 10,000 youth, said Sherwood Blount, president of Circle Ten Council.
Dallas-based Spring Valley Construction Company is the general contractor for the project.
The MGHerring Group, developer of The Village at Fairview, donated the 1.4-acre tract for the building to the Circle Ten Council.
“It was an honor for our company to give back to the community through the land donation to Circle Ten Council,” Gar Herring, president of The MGHerring Group, said in a prepared statement. “Boys Scouts of America enriches the lives of many young men in our community, and we look forward to welcoming Circle Ten Council to The Village at Fairview.”
A groundbreaking ceremony for the center is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday.
