CityView, the housing company founded by former San Antonio Mayor Henry Cisneros, has been named Real Estate Manager of the Year by Opal Financial Group.
CityView is a Los Angeles-based institutional investment firm that is focused on urban real estate and inner-city housing. Cisneros, who is also the former secretary for Housing and Urban Development, founded CityView back in 2000. He continues to serve as chairman. The company has regional offices in New York, Dallas and San Antonio.
Since Cisneros founded the company, CityView has invested in or developed more than $2 billion in real estate transactions. The company works with developers to provide the financing real estate projects. CityView recently expanded its investment portfolio to include multifamily rental properties. The company also invests in infrastructure projects. CityView recently furnished $45 million worth of subordinated debt to the Central Texas Regional Mobility Board to help pay for a toll road extension in the Austin area. The company invests in infrastructure, in part, as a way to facilitate urban development.
Opal Financial Group specializes in coordinating institutional investment conferences for high net worth individuals and executives. This is the second year Opal has recognized CityView as a leading emerging real estate manager. Opal is based in New York.
